  • We can share the recording of the lesson that the student can playback and watch; however, we do not reschedule or refund missed lessons.

  • For ages 5-8, the maximum number of students is 8. For ages 9+, the maximum number of students in a class is 10.

  • No, you don’t need a chessboard to participate in class. It is nevertheless beneficial for your child to own a chessboard to practice and play on when they are not taking classes, so we do encourage it. You can visit the Girl Boss Chess store and purchase a Girl Boss Chess Board here.

  • Lessons are usually 1-hour long, once a week and take place on the same day every week. Private chess lessons are 40 minutes long and chess lessons for children 4 years old and younger are for 30 minutes.

  • Yes. We offer 10% off for family members. Restrictions do apply, so please contact us further for more information.

  • Yes, they need to be on different devices in to participate individually, and they need to be in different rooms.

  • Yes, we offer private one-on-one classes that are each 40 minutes long.

  • Yes, more advanced classes are available periodically. Please contact us and provide us with your details. We will contact you to arrange an assessment session for your child, in order to determine which level to place them in.

  • Other than English, we also teach chess in French. We have a diverse collective of chess educators, so we can teach in many other languages. To inquire further about the language of instruction most suitable for you or your girl, please contact us with your specific query.

  • Please contact us with your details and, if possible, we will try to accommodate your request.

  • The extra classes are to accommodate the differences in learning styles and speeds between the two age groups. We offer additional classes to younger girls, so that they are able to grasp more complex lessons effectively. The extra time allows chess educators to review the material a couple of extra times, which the younger girls require. There is no difference between the courses in terms of content.

  • If you feel like your child is more advanced and is able to take classes with an older age group, please contact us. We will set up an assessment appointment with one of our chess educators, who will be able to determine whether your child will be able to keep up with the faster pace that older girls are taught chess.

  • We have taught girls as young as four years old. However, it really depends on the child. If you have a very young girl that you would like to enroll with us, please contact us for more information.
